LONDON POLICE POSTS
“YARD’S” NEW SYSTEM. (By Cable—Press A’sn.—Copyright.) (Recd. Nov. 30, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, November 29. Crooks, confidence tricksters, and smash-and-grab thieves, will soon find their livelihood departing. Scotland Yard has organised an elaborate system of police posts, similar to post office kiosks, but blue instead of red, and labelled “Police.” When ,the system is fully established in London, the public will instantly be able to get in touch with any sub-divisional stations, and summon a body of police or 20 horse-power van to any place in the metropolitan area within five minutes. In case of emergency, up to twenty police and detectives will be available. The van contains a steellined cell and first-aid appliances.
