“The Singing Fool,” the popular talkie film, will be shown in the Opera House to-night, and also on Monday and Tuesday evenings for the last time. A remarkable demonstration of the emotional power of Al Jolson is furnished 'in ',‘The < Singing Fool.” Though Jolson’s stormily dramatic rendition of popular ballads has undoubtedly been an important factor in causing the public to acclaim him the world’s favourite entertainer, he has always been Considered first and foremost as a comedian. And yet “The Singing Fool” is not a comedy—haying few comedy moments —and no element of comedy action whatever. It is a drama of intense pathos, a moving story of emotional depth, in which Al, though gay and light-hearted, is brought at length to the depths of despair. “The Singing Fool” season comes to an end on Tuesday evening.

TOWN HALL TO-NIGHT “Slim Fingers” will be shown at the Town Hall to-night. This is a Universal melodrama with an all-star cast. MAWHERA DANCE. Special preparations have been made to ensure to-night’s dance in the Oddfellows’, Hall being a great success. .Steel’s full orchestra has been engaged and valuable prizes will be awarded the winners of the Lucky Dance. OPERA HOUSE, SUNDAY At the Picture Benefit on Sunday at the Opera House, Bebe Daniels will appear in the character of a girl newspaper reported in “What a Night!” CHILDREN’S CONCERT.

A concert will be held at Holy Trinity Hall on Tuesday evening, the proceeds of which will go towards the cost of painting the inside of the hall. Some of Greymouth’s best young artists will'give items, including Melva Moss, Patti Marshall, Myra Mercer, and Ida McDonald. Recitations, vocal and pianoforte solos, and character songs will be included in what should prove an enjoyable concert.
