KUMARA NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) Messrs Spiers and Reedy, accompanied by Mr and Mrs W. Stewart, left by motor for Christchurch on Friday afternoon. Mr Henry Johnsen, who is away on holiday, does not expect to return until early in the New Year. The wedding was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church,. Addington, on October 30, of Metta, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Seebeck, and Michael, eldest son of Mrs and the late Mr D. Neville. It is the intention of Mr and Airs Neville to reside in Kumara. The usual sitting of the S.M. Court will be field on Wednesday next. At a special meeting of the Reserves Committee held at the Council Chambers on Thursday evening to go into the matter of cleaning' up the Cemetery, it was resolved that the Town Clerk be instructed to circularise the relatives and friends of those buried there, with a view of raising money to carry out the work. It is confidently expected, the appeal will not be in vain.

Owing to some cause, at present unexplainable, a dairy farmer in the district, is said to have been so unfortunate as to lose six of ’his herd within the space of a week or two. Mr Cyril Rochford, who for a considerable period has operated the pictures at the Memorial Hall, left for Hokitika on Tuesday, under engagement to Mr T. Moore, where he undertakes similar work.
