TOWN HALL

j “EXCESS BAGGAGE” TO-NIGHT “Excess Baggage, will be shown at the Town Hall to-night. The plot is based on a ‘ small-time vaudeville troupe where Haines, as Eddie Kane, marries Josephine Dunn, (a real actress). The wife finds herself merely “Excess Baggage” in her husband’s act, and when given an opportunity foi' screen success takes advantage of it. Kane finds that he can no longer do his dangerous act which was to earn him fame, and he, in his turn, becomes “Excess Baggage.” A year later both parties meet in New-York, and work out their problem in an exciting and novel manner.

FIREWORKS DISPLAY / To assist in raising money to liquidate its liabilities, and at the same time give its patrons a spectacular entertainment, the Greymouth Band has been fortunate enough to arrange with the premier fireworks manufacturers of New Zealand to again present one of their magnificent displays here. Pa* trons will recollect - what a brilliant spectacle this was last year, but this year promises to eclipse it. Fired by the experts supplied by the Company, a brilliant and pleasing sight is in store. To provide further interest, the United Cycling Club have agreed to assist the Band by putting on a number of items, including a five-mile race, in which the crack riders of the Coast will all compete. An effigy competition and procession has been also arranged for parties of three boys. The party turning out the best effigies will be awarded prices. The procession will leave the State School at 7.30 p.m. and will be led by the Band. It should be a most amusing one. Patrons are advised to be at the Park early and join in the fun. NOVELTY BALE. Roll up and enjoy yourself to-mor-row night at the Mawhera grand novelty ball, to be held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Steel’s first-class orchestra will be there, so join in the lucky dance. Streamers, confetti and balloons will make the evening a huge success. Don’t miss the fun.
