GISBORNE, August 29. The New Zealand Ladies’ Hockey Championships opened this afternoon. Results: — Section A. —Poverty Bay A. beat South Canterbury by 4 goals to 2. Rotorua ,beat Bush by 3 goals to 2. Ruahine beat Auckland A by 5 goals to 1. Setion B. —Wairarapa beat Auckland B. by 5 goals to 1. Wellington beat Poverty Bay B. by 5 goals to 0. Canterbury beat Hawke’s Bay by 4 goals to 2.
