Accused went into the shop and ordered a sofe drink. He handed over a ’ ten. shilling note and received 9/8 ’ change. Accused said he had the , change in silver and asked for the note back. After fumbling in his pocket , for some time, Christie said that the ' shopkeeper had better make it a pound, as he had more than he thought he had. A poipid note was their handed over, but accused after more fumbling handed it back, saying he did not have the change after all. Christie then left the shop, A few minutes after the shopkeeper found he had lost ten shillings. lie followed accused and gave him in charge. Accused was to-day sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. He had 22 previous convictions, including 11 in Australia.
