(Per Press Association.) ' INTOXICATED DRIVER. TIMARU, August 2. At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, Thomas Newton Somerville was fined £2O for being intoxicated while in charge of a car. His license was cancelled, and Somerville was suspended from driving till December 31 next year. CHARITABLE BEQUESTS. AUCKLAND, August 2. A number of bequests to public institutions, especially those connected with the Methodist Church, are provided in the will of the late Mr Stephen James Ambury, whose estate has been valued for probate purpose at £50,000. Bequests of £250 each are made to Dr. Barnardo’s Homes (London), • Sailors’ Home (Auckland), Army Children’s Home (Ponsonby), and the Auckland Institute and Museum. After many private bequests have have been provided for, the residue of the estate is to be divided into forty ’parts, some of which are to go to individuals, and two each to New Zea-

land Methodist Home Missions, the New Zealand Methodist Foreign Missions, Methodist Theological Training College and the Wesley Training College ; and one part each to Dr. Stephenson’s Children’s Home (London), the Y.M.C.A. and Y.W.C.A. (Auckland), the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, and Mount Albert Orphanage. The remaining parts are to be divided by the trustees at their discretion among Protestant charitable institutions or objects.
