BLACKBALL NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs H. Harrison (Westport) who have been on a visit to Blackball, will return to-day. Sam Clark, a member of the local Schoolboys’ Soccer team, entered the Grey Hospital on Monday evening to undergo an operation for appendicitis, and is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. W. McArthur, who has been on a month’s visit to Wellington, returned to Blackball. The local ladies’ hockey team secured another win by two goals to nil at Dunollie on Wednesday over the Runanga ladies’ team, Miss M. Hogg notching both goals. The visit of the Hokitika ladies to Blackball on Wednesday next should attract a large attendance to the local Domain. & The atmospheric conditions of late have taken on a much brighter appearance throughout t he day, but keen hard frosts in the early mornings and late evenings are much in evidence at this period. The Blackball mine continues to work full time. It is understood that supplies of local coal are in great demand.
