REEFTON NOTES

REEFTON, May 11

Wintry conditions prevailed yesterday at Reefton. During Thursday night a distinct fall in temperature took place and heavy rain fell, there being 96 points registered. The surrounding hills are heavily coated with snow. At Maruia the snow is very low down, the tree tops being coated. This morning the rain had ceased, but there is a heavy fog. Miss K. Wills, teacher at the Rotokohu School, left for Christchurch on Thursday to attend the capping ceremony at the University, where she receives the degree of B.A. The schools throughout the district closed yesterday for the term holidays. Mr E. Hayes, who left for Dunedin on Thursday, obtained his B.A. degree at Christchurch to-day.
