LONDON, April 17.

Mr Churchill stated in the House of Commons, that the report of the sub-committee of Civil Research in Radium would be issued immediately. The report dealt with the national requirements for radium in medical treatment, and for the purpose of physical research; and with the possibility of developing new sources supply.

The Sub-Committee expressed vhe opinion that in order to meet the requirements of England, Wales and Scotland, 20 grammes of radium, in addition to the stocks already available or likely to be available shortly, for general medical use, should be required within a specified period before the end of 1930. The Sub-Com-mittee recommended that the necessary sum to provide this was estimated at £200,000, and should be raised by public appeal, to which the Government should contribute £1 for £l. The Government had accepted the financial recommendations of the subcommittee and would be prepared to contribute from public funds up to a maximum of £lOO,OO0 —£1 for every £1 subscribed.
