Hinkler, lecturing under the auspices of the - Royal Aeronautical Society, detailed the technicalities of the construction and manipulation of machines which could be used practicably on the Anglo-Australian service. Ho said that the Avian, despite its not having been designed for journeying throughout the world, had proved the possibility of designing a machine ensuring equal safety and greater comfort.
Referring to Burney’s predicted five-day airship journey to Australia, Hinkler pointed out that it meant a nonstop, and also meant attaining the maximum possibility therein, resembling the nonstop Transcontinental train in Australia, which engineeringly was possible but commercially impractible. “Experience has convinced me of the practicability of a fourteen day’s Anglo-Australian service with comfort and safety, within a few years” he concludedAN AUCKLAND VENTURE. (Special to “Star.”) AUCKLAND, December 7. The light aeroplane which E. Everson and his brother have constructed at their home in Herne Bay is now ready for a trial run. A twin-cylinder motor cycle engine appears to deliver ample power to the propeller fitted, and the machine will be removed from the workshop immediately a suitable ground is selected. Two properties at Mangere have been ottered, and these vvill °be inspected at the end of the week.
