Another typical affray, which is causing Shanghai to be known as “The Chicago of the Orient,” occurred today. Chinese armed robbers stormed the industrial area in the Western District and held up an accountants’ department and departed with 8000 dollars.

The Japanese manager conveyed the information to tlie police, and accompanied by Sergeant Hutton, an Englishman, discovered three men along the road.

An exciting revolver duel then took place, Sergeant Hutton, singlehanded, returning the fire. The trio were captured and part of the money was recovered. This is the third or fourth time Sergeant Hutton -has distinguished himself in pistol duels. In one battle he killed four armed kidnappers.
