CITY COUNCIL VACANCY

A CONTEST ASSURED (Special to “Star.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 12. Mr. F. M. Robson was nominated today as the Labour Party’s candidate to fill the position on the City Council from which Mr. G. R. Hunter resigned. He was nominated by Councillor F. R. Cooke and Mr. W. J. Green, secretary to the Canterbury Labour Representation Committee. Mr. Robson was the runner-up at the last municipal elections, lie is secretary of the Boot Operatives’ Union. As Mr. W. H. Winsor has also been nominated for the vacancy, a contest is now assured unless one of the Candidates withdraws seven days before the date of thb election. October 23 has been fixed as the dale of the election.
