DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS (Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October .12. The New Zealand Golf Championships commenced this morning at Balmacewan. The gale of the night died to a light northerly. The course is very hard and the greens fiery. It is a very representative gathering of the cream of New Zealand golf with two exceptions, Arthur Dunan among the amateurs, and E. J. Moss, the professional, present holder of the open championship. The first round of the open cham- ■ pionship, decided by four rounds of j medal play, commenced at 8.30 a.m. in conjunction with the first qualifying round of the amateur and professional championships.
