GERMAN NAVAL CHIEF
IDEAS ON WOMEN’S HAIR.
BERLIN, September 19.
Vice-Admiral Raeder, who was Admiral von Hipper’s chief of staff during the war, and who commanded the battle cruiser Seydlitz at the Battle of Jutland, has been appointed head of the naval administration. He is regarded as the best man in Germany’s post-war Navy. It is understood that the appointment was due to the desire of the Minister of Defence, Herr Greener, that the Array and Navy should work hand in hand.
Vice-Admiral Raeder, while he was commander at Kiel, prohibited the wives of subordinate officers bobbing or shingling their hair. It is expected that he will issue a similar order throughout the German Navy.
