LEFT-HANDED CHILDREN
DANGERS OF RESTRAINT.
(United Service.) (By Cable—Press Assn— Copyright.)
(Recd. Oct. 2, 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 1., It is dangerous to force a naturally left-handed' child to become righthanded,’ according to Dr H. Rumsey, the Guy’s Hospital expert, because it overloads the left side of the brain. He says that the brain controls the hands diagonally; also, the left side of the brain controls speech. Nature makes some children left-handed to give the speech centre extra room. Sometimes, left-handed children, when forced to be right-handed, develop stammering, which ceases when allowed to follow their instinct.
