Over ninety nominations have been received for the annual Timaru to Christchurch road race, to take place on Saturday next. The riders include the best in the Dominion. Owing to the condition of the green and on the advice of the green-keeper (Mr A. Fairhall), the committee of the Greymouth Bowling Club has decided to postpone the opening of the season until Wednesday, October 17. LEAGUE. BOXING The Greymouth Boxing Association have succeeded in matching “Johnny” Leckie and “Billy” Melton, for Greymouth, the fight to take place on October io. Leckie is well-known as one of New Zealand’s top men, while Melton is a successful Australian fighter. Both are in active training and the bout should create great interest.
