The amount of coal, timber, produce, stock, and general merchandise transported through the Otira tunnel for this week was 11,051 tons. This is an increase of 1262 tons, compared with the amount dealt with in the corresponding period last year viz., 9789 tons. The total amount handled during the same period in 1926 was 8019 tons. The heaviest railage, on any one day this week, was 2593 tons on Wednesday.
