The Gospel Hall Assembly held regular meetings in the Schoolhouse, and for maiiv years a strong Christian Endeavour Society did useful work among the young people. 'Chose connected with the school 'meetings were: —Mr and Mrs John Kyle (Greymouth), the late Messis w. IL Stone. A. Wisdom. Stephen Al ills, ami Standidge. Progress has been steady and the larger order of things finds a commodious Gospel Hall to-day in Cardwell Street, and another Gospel Assembly meeting in the Cobden School Gymnasium. In all, about sixty attend meetings every Sunday evening in both halls. Air A. Wisdom (sen.) superintended the Sunday School for many years. Air W. McNeill is now tilling'that position, and Messrs Arch. McNeill. John McNeill and P. Watson have Ihe oversight of the Gymnasium Assembly. , The Church of the Resurrection and Roman Catholic Church and School represent the work of theitr denominations, although in the near future there are prospects that Hie Presbyterians or Methodist? will take steps to provide for their particular denomination.
