CROSSING SMASH. (Per Press Association.) ‘ CHRISTCHURCH, July 15. A collision occurred at the Colombo Street railway crossing on Saturday evening between a motor-car and a shunting engine. The fore part of the motor was badly damaged, and the windscreen was smashed, but the occupants, of whom there were four, escaped injury. The motorist states that he saw the crossing keeper’s signal, but the brakes slipped, and the car had sufficient pace to carry it to the line. MOTOR CYCLIST INJURED. MASTERTON, July 15. As the result of a collision between a motor cycle and a motor car, at a street intersection in Masterton, on Saturday afternoon, Edward John Anstis, aged 34. years, of Martinborough, was admitted to the hospital. It is believed that his hip is broken. WOMAN KILLED. AUCKLAND, July 16. Airs Louisa Buer, 56, residing in Dominion Road, died at the hospital from serious injuries to the head. She was knocked down by a motor car late on Saturday night.
