On the opening day of the test match between England and West Indies, the former lost eight wickets for 382 runs (E. Tyldesley 122, Chapman 50). Tyldesley was scratchy throughout. Hammond and Jardine gave the best display. The bowling of Constantine and Francis combined with excelTenT slip fielding, restrained the scoring. VISITORS COLLAPSE. The visitors followed on and lost, six wickets for 55.
