Practically the whole o£ the relief expeditions that were organised , 5n behalf of General Nobile have now turned to search for Amundsen. Two French warships, a number of aeroplanes and seaplanes are taking up an immediate search. The trench Government has ordered a French cruiser and a destroyer that are at present at Oslo, to proceed to King’s Bay. The Norwegian Government has despatched a fishing supervision . vessel that at present is in the vicinity of Boar Island, to join the Russian icebreaker. The hopes of the Norwegians, however, are momentarily centred’ on the Italian, Captain Maddalena. who has set out for North-east band in search of Amundsen. The missing seaplane, in which Amundsen left, contained a collapsible rubber boat, capable of holding four people, and also had provisions for a fortnight. Arctic authorities are confident ot the rescue of Amundsen. They recall Amundsen’s unrivalled Arctic .knowledge, and they also point out his safe return in 1925, when he and his present companion, Dietrichson, were missing for three weeks. NOBILE’S RESCUE. ROME, June 22. A naval seaplane piloted by Commandant Ravazzoni, left Pisa, on route to the Polar regions, to assist in the rescue of Nobile. PACIFIC FLYER BEREAVED. SYDNEY, June 23. The fliers, Lyon and Warner, are sailing to-day by the Sonoma. Lyon has just received the tragic news of the death of his mother at Maine, U.S.A.
