At Zagres, the Croatian capital, crowds demonstrated before the house of Stephen Raditch, who was reported to be dead. Deputy Raditch then attempted to calm the gathering, who quietened after hearing that Stephen Raditch was alive. The police, fearing excesses, began dispersing the crowds, resulting in disorder. A procession of young men, marching behind a Croatian banner, draped witih crape, was followed by a huge assembly, whom the police, in attempting to disperse them, repeatedly charged. The crowd responded.. by pelting the police with stones and cudgelling them. Cavalry then turned out and charged the mob. The disorder lasted for hours, recurring in different parts of the city, Finally the police , charges and appeals by the Deputies resulted in the dispersal of the crowd. COMMUNISTS ARRESTED. (Received June 23, 11 a.m.) BELGRADE, June 23. Further reports from Zagreb state that disorders continued all night. The police and crowd then barricaded, themselves using any shelter within, reach. The police were finally compelled to use force and order was speedily re-established. Two were killed and several others were -wounded, and a hundred arrested, the majority being Communists. Special orders have been issued to prevent further disorders and bloodshed. All houses, theatres, restaurants, and cinemas must be closed by 7 p.m.
