MEETINGS

HOLY TRINITY CHURCH.

The annual meeting of parishioners of Holy Trinity Church was held in Trinity Hall last evening. There was a fair attendance.

After the report and balance-sheet were read and discussed, they were adopted. The reports of the Sunday Schools were then read by the superintendents. The Blaketown School showed a slight increase in attendance, but the Main school was not as satisfactory as it should be. A number - of questions were asked and answered. Archdeacon Carr pointed out that many of the parishioners had cars and took their children out driving on Sunday. He urged the parishioners to encourage the Sunday School teachers By sending their children regularly on Sunday to school. The church officers were then elected for the ensuing year. The Archdeacon spoke on different aspects of the work. He pointed out the advantages of the Young Worshippers’ League, stating that the regular attendance of children at the morning service (which is a full church service) formed a habit, the children thus getting used to the use of the Prayer Book. He noticed a marked improvement in the response. The good work done by the Choir conductors, Mr Savage and Mr Smith, was referred to, the former takes charge of the Juvenile and the latter the adult Choir. Bible classes were held in the Vicarage on Sundays for men in the morning and young women in the afternoon. Touching on routine work the Vicar - stated that 1009 visits were made during the year. Of these, 106 were to the Hospital. There were 53 baptisms and 21 marriages. A long discusison took place on the repair or otherwise of the organ and the question of building the new church. It was decided that a referendum be taken as to whether the church be built on the present site or on another site more towards the residen-

tial area. The Vicar asked the co-operation of the parishioners in the mattei - of letting him know of new people coming to the district, and any who were in trouble or sorrow. After votes of thanks were passed to the various church worker’s, the meeting closed with the benediction.
