INANGAHUA CLUB’S MEETING LOCANDA BOY WINS The Inangahua Trotting Club’s Meeting opened to-day at Victoria Park, in fine but windy weather before a large attendance. The track was in perfect order and some excellent trotting was witnessed. Following were the results: PIONEERS’ HANDICAP (harness), of 120 sovs., 10-,!, furlongs.

Myrtlewood), 4yrs, 36 (owner) 3 Also started: 6 Nurmi (Owen), 4 Allanora (Clarke), 3 Audubon Lad (Thomas), 2 Danny Boy (Withers) scr, 8 Royal (Frost) 24, 9 Great Abdallah (Griggs) 72. All started in the Pioneers’ Handicap. Audubon L’ad, Queen’s Ferry, Haerenga Pai and Allanora led out, Danny Boy and Audience breaking. With two furlongs gone Audience came with a great run into second place, followed by' Haerenga Pai, Queen’s Ferry and Allanora. Going out of the straight for the final lap, Audubon Lad nearly put his foot through Audience’s sulky. The latter went to the front, Audubon Lad dropping back. Harenga Pai closed up, followed by Queen’s Ferry. Audience tired into the straight, and Haerenga Pai went on. Queen’s Ferry came with a great rattle, but broke twenty yards from the post. Bryce got him going again cleverly to get second place” a length and a-half behind Haerenga Pai, with Audience half a length away third, followed by Allanora, Audubon Lad and Royal Audubon. The winner went a fine race. Times 3.9 415, 3.10, 3.7 1-5. Tote £999. DIOMEDE HANDICAP (harness), of 145 sovs., 10A furlongs. (2) Direct Tod, Mr N. McDowell’s b.g. (lowa Tod—Emily Directum) aged, 36 (J. Longelly) ... 1 (1) Horotane, Mr J. Brosnan’s b.f. (Logan Pointer—Croesus mare 4vrs, 48 (C. Donald) 2 (4) Vai Logan, Mr J. M. Fairbairn’s br.m. (Logan Pointers— Valkyrie) syrs, 12 (D. Bennett) 3 Also started: .3 Audrey Dillon (McDermott), 8 Ocean Whispers (F. L. Turley), scr., 6 Bingenwood (J. Davidson), 7 Trespass (H. Frost) 12, 5 The Toff (J. Bryce, jun.) 36. Sedmere, Latest Fashion and Heroic were scratched for the Diomede Handicap. Trespass and Audrey Dillon broke up at the start. Direct Tod went to the front, followed, by Ocean Whispers, Vai Logan,' The Toff, Bingenwood, with Horotane moving up fast. This order was maintained into the final lap, where The Toff broke and Horotane got a great run through on the rails, which carried him into third place behind Direct Tod and Bingenwood. Horotane went past Bingenwood and tackled pfrect Tod, but could make no impression, Direct Tod winning by a length with Vai Logan, who finished fast, six lengths away, half a length in front of Bmgenwood. Ail’started in the Visitors’ Handicap, for which Cabin Girl made a hot favourite, carrying more than Miss Wilkes. Royal Review refused to go at all and was pulled up. Homeleigh Girl led out from Reverie, Kitty Patch, who was travelling very fast, and Cabin Girl, with Connie Audubon next. Homeleigh still held her lead in the second lap, where Cabin Girl and Connie Audubon had moved up, followed by Kitty Patch and Miss Wilkes. Homeleigh Girl broke and Cabin Girl ran to the front in the final lap with Miss Wilkes, Kitty Patch and Connie Audubon, who broke, next. Miss Wilkes, who was under a strong pull, came away when asked the question and won by three lengths. In a great finish, Cabin Girl beat Kitty Patch by a neck for second place, followed By Connie Audubon, with Homeleigh Girl, Wee Olga and Welcome Whispers next. Times 4.34 3-5, 4.33 2-5, 4.31 4-5. Tote £13491.

Oriole, Asset and Sungleam were the only scratchings for the Inangahua Handicap, for which Orphan was made an better favourite than Shadowland, with Royal Authoress next in demand. Locanda Boy was the first to show out from Marlindo, Hard Knocks, Nourmahal, Shadowland, Royal Authoress and Kreisler, with Orphan breaking badly, interfering with High Jinks, whose wheel became jammed and he was pulled up. Royal Authoress rushed into .second place along the back stretch, the

order into the straight being Locanda Boy, Royal Authoress, Marlindo, Hard Knocks, Shadowland and La Sonette. Hard Knocks broke and lost his position and going into the back stretch Locanda Boy still led, with Royal Authoress, Marlindo and Shadowland handy, while Kreisler broke and dropped back. La Sonette and Shadowland then closed up and were closely followed by Orphan and Marlindo, while Royal Authoress dropped back. In the back stretch in the last round . Locanda Boy still led. Orphan and Shadowland raced together, while Kreisler improved his postion. The front marker, Locanda Boy, however, held his own and stalled off a challenge by La Sonette, winning by two lengths, with Shadbwland a length away third, closely followed by Orphan. Then came Okoura, Acre, Kreisler, Royal Serene, Marlindo, Nourmahal, Hard Knocks and Royal Authoress all strung out. Times: 4.56 2-5, 4.53, 4.54 1-5. Tote £2015. HEAPHY HANDICAP.
