(Oar Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, January 14. A meeting of the Motor Sports Committee held in Mr G. S. Pascoe’s office yesterday was attended by Mr A. B. West (President), Messrs Pascoe (Secretary), Noble, Jas. Patterson, C. Tattley, I. Patterson, J. Noble, J. Mclnroe. The President reported that the meeting on December 28 resulted in a small loss. . The Secretary explained that this was due to the holidays. Some arrangements with regard to the Ice Cream stall and side shows were not properly carried out and it would have the original arrangements have been carried out. The Secretary was instructed to pay out the prize money. A vote of thanks was tendered the Secretary for his services in connection with the meeting. A vote of thanks was tendered to Messrs Crook, W. A. Clarke, Cowan and Parkinson for their services and assistance in conducting the sports. A hearty vote of thanks was tendered the Inangahua Silver Band for their services. . At a subsequent meeting ot the A. and P. Committee held imediately after the Motor Sports Committee, the matter of the A. and P. Show was considered. It was decided to hold the Annual A. and P. Show on March 9 and 10. Mr A. B. West Acting-President, considered that a farmer should be at the head of the Society and would like to see one in the President’s chair. Mr I. Patterson moved that Mr A. B. West’s resignation be accepted with regret. Seconded by Mr Noble and carried. , „ It was decided to notify the Railway Department of the Show dates and that they be asked to make the necessary train arrangements and advertise the Show dates on any pamphlets issued by them and that ' the schedule be printed and circularised at once. The offer of Mr H. J. Gebbie to canvas the residents of the town for exhibits to the Show was accepted with thanks. The Cup presented by Mr R. P. Hudson, was on show, and greatly admired and the thanks of the Society was expressed and ordered to be conveyed to Mr Hudson for his splendid gift. It was resolved to circularise the business firms throughout the Dominion with regard to prizes for donations for the Show. Mr A. E. Werry is to be informed of the date of the Show and his offer o run the School Sports in connection with the Show be accepted. Mr West referred with feeling to the late Messrs R. Wills and F. B. Stallard’s long connection with the Show, and a vote of condolence to the relatives was passed, all the committee standing as a token of respect to the memory of the deceased members of the Association. At the Magistrate’s Court before Mr. W. Meldrum S.M., Jas. Lawn was charged with being in possession of an unregistered firearm. Defendant pleaded guilty and was fined 5/-, costs 10/- and the firearm was ordered to be confiscated. In McElwee and Sons v. E. A. Robinson and of J. Robinson, judgment was given for plaintiff for £26/0/2, costs £4/3/6 against E. A. Robinson..

In McMahon and Lee v. Lawrence Harold Harris, judgment for plaintiff for £l3/16/4 and costs £l/13/0. In McVicar v. W. Clark, judgment was given for £l/10/0, costs 8/-. W. Berrymon v. Roderick McLean, judgment summons, judgment debtor ordered to pay £6/1/6 forthwith in default 14 days, imprisonment in Greymouth prison, warrant to be suspended on payment of £ 1 per month; first payment on or before January 21. At a sitting of the Warden’s Court before Mr. Meldrum, Warden the following applications were adjourned to January 27: — John Henry Roberts for an Ordinary Prospecting License ovei* 63 acres in Blk. XIV, Reefton S.D. Francis D. Walker for an Ordinary Prospecting License over 100 acres near Capleston. Archie Mitchell to surrender three mining privileges. The funeral of the late J. S. H. Durward took place on Friday afternoon at the Suburban Cemetery, and was larely attended. Rev. J. W. Bloyce officiated at the graveside and Bro. Thos. Dellaca rendered the Oddfellows’ burial service.
