Mr J. S. Graham, Railway Road foreman, is visiting Greymouth.

Mr and Mrs F. B. Lawn, who have been on holiday at Timaru, will return this afternoon.

Miss R. F. Orr, of Christchurch, "Will arrive this afternoon on a holiday visit to Greymouth.

Mrs T. W. Black (Dunedin), is visiting Mr and Mrs T. E.*Coates, Alexander Street.

Mr G. Collins, who has been visiting the'- West Coast, returned to-day to Wellington.

Nurse Anderson who has been spending a holiday in the West Coast, returned to-day to Dunedin.

Mi’ and Mrs K. Cavell, who have been touring the West Coast, left today on their return to Dunedin.

Mr and Mrs E. Cressy snr., and Miss M. Cressey of Cobden, left to-day on a holiday, visit to Dunedin.

Miss Gertrude Johnston, who recently returned from London, left today for Wellington, where she intends residing.

Mr J. Connor, Airbrake Inspector N.Z. Railways, who has been visiting the Westland Section, returned to-day to Christchurch.

A Melbourne cablegram announced the death of Mr Joseph Sternberg, known as the father of the Legislative Council, aged 76.

Mrs J. Fitzgerald and Miss Fitzgerald (Wainihini), who have heen visiting Christchurch, returned on Thursday.

Mrs M. Maughan (Jnchbonnie), who underwent a serious operations at the Grey Hospital yesterday, is improving as favourably as can be expected.

• Mr and Mrs H. Cooper (Reefton) are visiting Greymouth and are the guests of Mr and Mrs T. Learmont, Upper Shakespeare Street.

Mrs . Hensilwood (Christchurch), who has been visjting her mother, Mrs W. Kellar, Hokitika, returned this morning.

Mr Eric East, formerly on the staff of the Bank of New South Wales, Greymouth, and latterly at Nelson, has been transferred to Hamilton.

Rev. Father McGrath, S.M., who has been visiting Greymouth, Hokitika and Westport, returned to Wellington this morning.

Mr James Hutchins, who has been adjusting the insurances of the Kokiri Sawmill fire, returned to Christchurch to-day.

Senior-Sergeant Scandrett, who has resigned from the. Police Force, is expected to be succeeded at Westport by Sergeant McGlone.

Mr W. Potter, of Moana,’ is making good progress at the Greymouth Hospital, where he underwent ah operation for appendicitis this week.

Sir Geo. Elliott, chairman of Directors of the Bank of New Zealand, and Lady Elliott, are passengers for New Zealand by the liner Niagara, which is en route from Sydney to Auckland.

Rev. Mi- Tylee, of Lyttelton, will arrive this afternoon from Christchurch. He will' conduct services tomorrow at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. /

Rev. Dr. H. J. O’Neill (Holy Cross College, Mosgiel) will arrive this afternoon to spend a holiday on the Coast. He will be the guest of Rev. Father O’Meeghan, Ahaura.

A London cablegram stated that as a sequel to King Fuad’s visit to Europe a long list of decorations have been published including the bestowal of the Collar of Mohammed Ali upon the Kings of England and Italy and Cardinal Gasparri; the Order of Al Kamel upon the Queens of England and Italy, and the Grand Cordon of the Nile upon the Prince of Wales, Duke of York and Princes Henry and George.

Mr and Mrs Geo. Blood, who have resided at Cobden for some time, have decided to return to the Old Country Last evening at the- residence of Airs H. Wisdom, members of the Gospel Hall assembly gathered to bid them farewell on the eve of their departure (January 21). Mr P. Watson voiced the regret of fellow brethren nt their friends’ departure, and. in presenting them with a travelling rug, extended them the best wishes of the ncqembly. Air Blood responded, thanking them all for their gift and kind remarks.
