CANTERBURY DEFEAT WAIKATO. (Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, January 12. The cricket match between Canterbury and Waikato resulted in a win for the visitors by an innings and 122 runs. In, response to Waikato’s first innings score of 184, Canterbury made 462 (Read 105, Nixon 89, Newman 95, Roberts 66, Page not out 40). Winger three wickets for 51, Hawke two for 59, and Going two for 65, were the best home bowlers. Waikato’s second strike realised 156 runs (Kavanagh 43, Badeley 32, Hawke 24, Thomas 23). At a meeting of New Zealand Cricket Ltd., it was decided to take steps to liquidate the company. It was reported that the capital-to be returned to the shareholders, would represent about 3/6 on the 10/ called up; all shares paid in advance to be remitted in full.
