(Per Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, January 12. The first day of the Dargaville Racing Club’s annual meeting was held in glorious weather, with a large attendance, including the Prime Minister. Minister of Lands, and other members of the Legislature. The course was in excellent order, and there was good racing. At the conclusion of the Kaihu Hurdles, Chaplin, rider of Scot Free, was before the Stewards and asked to give an explanation, which was considered satisfactory. Tricklebank, rider of Maniehera, was asked a question regarding the riding of his mount in the race, and was suspended for six months for not trying to win. The tote handled £8,2995, an increase of £1595 compared with last year. Following were the remaining results: — Settlers’ Handicap.—l Houhora 1; 3 Marble Mount 2; 2 Winning Lass 3. Also started: Gay Cockade, Hazerin, Tiny Mint, Wetikia. A head each way. Time 1.4. Dargaville Cup, 11 miles: —5 Sir Roseberry 1; 1 Alonsoa 2; 3 Right and Left 3. Also started: The Author, Tresillian. Won by a length and ahalf. Time 2.10. Avoca Handicap.—3 Macroom 1; 4 Rarakau 2; 1 Dave 3. Also started: Bright Dawn, King Emerald, Exalted. Head each way. Time 1.16.

Awakino Handicap.—3 Fiery Lad 1; 1 Wee Marble 2; 4 Ponticus 3. Also started: 2 Creation, 5 Colville Queen, 6 Toumau. Won by a head; three lengths. Time 1.31. Hobson Handicap.—l Illingar 1; 6 Marble Mount 2; 4 Arch Queen 3. Also started: Pita, Tresillian, Comet King, Just Quietly. Won by a head; three lengths. Time 1.44 2-5.
