(Per Press Association.) DARGAVILLE, January 12. The first day of the Dargaville Racing Club’s annual meeting was held in glorious weather, with a large attendance, including the Prime Minister. Minister of Lands, and other members of the Legislature. The course was in excellent order, and there was good racing. At the conclusion of the Kaihu Hurdles, Chaplin, rider of Scot Free, was before the Stewards and asked to give an explanation, which was considered satisfactory. Tricklebank, rider of Maniehera, was asked a question regarding the riding of his mount in the race, and was suspended for six months for not trying to win. The tote handled £8,2995, an increase of £1595 compared with last year. Following were the remaining results: — Settlers’ Handicap.—l Houhora 1; 3 Marble Mount 2; 2 Winning Lass 3.
