MANAWATU TOURNAMENT. PALMERSTON N., January 11. At the Manawatu tennis tournament the results were :— Men’s Singles.—C. E. Malfroy (Wellington) beat A. C. Stedman (Auckland) 3/6, 6/3, 6/1. In the semi-finals Stedman had defeated E. L. Bartleet (Auckland champion) 4/6, 6/4, 6/0. Malfroy easily defeated Backman (Wanganui) 6/1, 6/2. Ladies’ Singles, semi-final. —Miss I). Knight (Auckland) beat Miss Myers (Wanganui) 8/6, 4/6, 7/5. The other semi-finals between Miss D. Nicholls (Wellington) and Miss Calver (Wanganui) will be played to-morrow. In the men’s doubles, Malfroy and Lampe defeated Bartleet and Griffiths, 6/2, 9/3. In the final of the Ladies’ Handicap Singles, Miss Powdrell (Wanganui) (10) beat Mrs Caldwell (Feilding) (10), 50/35.
