MONDAY AND TUESDAY. Syd Chaplin in “The Better ’Ole” Which comes to the Opera House on Monday and Tuesday, has scored the hit of his career in this new picture, which was adapted from Bruce Bairnsfather’s world-famous cartoons and play. The locale of the picture is a part of the British front in France during the World War. MARIST SCHOOL CONCERT The Marist Brothers’ School pupils are holding their annual concert at the Town Hall on Tuesday next. The first part of the programme is contributed by the pupils and consists of choruses, drill, a short scene from “King John” and the dramatization of Browning’s famous poem “The Pied Piper.” The second part will be taken up by the official film of the last Eucharistic Congress held at Chicago where Cardinal Mundelein requested the Fox Film corporation to make a picture of the celebrations. The 3000 feet shown represent the labours of thirty camera men and the selection from 30,000 feet shot for the occasion. A copy of this film was presented to His Holiness, and this is the first time that it will be shown in Greymouth. Speaking of this picture the Boston “Post” states: “A new record for motion picures was established last night when the film of the Eucharistic Congress was shown at the Boston Opera House. . .

The crystal clearness of the pictures, their life-like brilliancy, wonderful perspectives and immense crowds have never been equalled by any spectacle staged for the screen before. From the point of view of technical skill they are well nigh perfect. . . The picture is not only wonderfully clear and gigantic, it is enthralling and beautiful in the extreme, holding the spectator spellbound to the last.” Lovers of pictures should not fail to attend at the Town Hall on Tuesday evening. The picture is announced by the Press throughout the world one of the greatest that has ever been screened.
