WELLINGTON, November 25.
The N.Z. Boxing Association recommends E. Morgan (Wellington), lightweight; A. J. Cleverly (Wellington), light-heavyweight, and J. O’Sullivan (Auckland), bantam, as being suitable to represent the Dominion at the Amsterdam Olympic Games in 1928. TENNIS. NEW YORK, November 24. It, is announced that the United States challenge will be for the American zone for the Davis Cup. The decision, which must yet be approved by the Executive Committee of the United States Lawn Tennis Association, is based on the desire to make it unnecessary for the team to sail to Europe in March, which would have been essential if the challenge were made in the European zone. The team will thus not sail until June. MELBOURNE, November 25.
The tenuis tournament and InterState matches for the Mars-Buckley Cup has commenced in fine weather. Chief features of the day’s play were: Kalms (N.S. Wales) beat Patterson (Vic.) 2/6, 12/10, 6/1; Crawford (N.S. Wales) beat Hawkes (Vic.) 11/9, 4/6, 6/1; O’Hara Wood (Vic.) beat Schlesinger (N.S. Wales) 6/3, 9/6.
