Captain J. L. Brisco has been appointed master of the Kaimai, relieving Captain W. A. Grey, who has transferred to the command of the Katoa. Mr. B. W. Gandell has joined the Waitemata as second engineer in place of Mr. N. Fleming, who has gone on holidays. Captain J. Mawson, late master 01 the R.M.S. Makurtr, has resigned from the service of the Union Steam Ship Company. , He joined the Union Company about 22 years ago t and made rapid progress. Captain Mawson’s home is in Wellington. He is wellknown in Greymouth shipping circles. The Kaimai is loading coal, timber and general cargo, and is scheduled to sail for Wellington to-night. The Kanna is expected to sail today with a cargo of coal for Tauranga and Auckland. The Kaituna left Auckland yesterday for Greymouth. She loads coal and returns thither, completing at Westport. The Waipori is due on Monday from Bluff. She will load coal and timber foi 1
The Kamona is due on Wednesday from Wellington in place of the Kittawa. She will load coal and timber for Napier. The Putiki is due about December 5 to load coal for Gisborne.
The Poolta, with timber from Clarence River and Port Stevens arrived on Monday from Newcastle at Wellington, and proceeds to Timaru, Dunedin and Greymouth to complete discharge.
The Ihumata is loading a cargo of timber for Sydney, and will sail about next Wednesday. ♦ The auxiliary schooner Piri, with explosives for Westport and Greymouth, arrived at Westport on Thursday. After discharge she will at Greymouth for Melbourne. From Melbourne the vessel will return to New Zealand with explosives. fl’he Regulus arrived last night from Wellington and way ports, with general cargo. After discharge she loads coal for Wanganui and sails to-night.
