DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Per Press Association.) HAMILTON, August 31. The New Zealand Golf Championship contests were opened here today in showery weather. Play on the opening day consisted of foursomes for amateurs and professionals. Hapi Tareha and F. C. Fryer, of Napier, won the amateur competition with an aggregate of 156 for 36 holes. Macßeth (Hamilton) and Morpeth (Auckland) were runners-up with 160. In the professionals’ contest, A. J. Shaw (Napier), and E. J. Moss (Auckland), won with an aggregate of 151, the runners up being J. Mclntosh (Masterton) and R. C. Butters (Miramar), with 157.

HAWKE’S BAY TOURNEY.

DANNEVIRKE, August 31.

The final for the Southern Hawke’s Bay championship at the Dannevirke Ladies’ Golf Tournament, was played this .afternoon, when Mrs H. Collinson (Palmerston North), defeated Mrs Gilanders (Wellington), former holder by one up. The match was carried to the 19th hole. The Tahoraite Handicap was won by Miss White. (Napier) who defeated Miss Hindmarsh (Dannevirke) in the final, two up. REEFTON CLUB. REEFTON, August 31. The following players qualified for the Club Championships: — Ladies. —Mrs. Kerr 99, Mrs. Instone 111, Mrs. Hubbard 112, Mrs. Gillies 127, Miss Mori 132, Mrs. I. Patterson 133, Miss Lee 133, Miss King and Mrs. T. Patterson 134 tied for Sth place, and to play off on Saturday. Sept. 3.

The draw for the first round is as follow: —Mrs. Kerr v. winner of replay between Miss King and Mrs. T. Patterson, Mrs. Gillies v. Miss Mori, Mrs. Hubbard v. Mrs. I. Patterson, Mrs Instone v. Miss Lee.

Men. —Robinson, A. McKenzie, Instone, Porter, Hubbard, Mosley, Patterson and Easther.

Draw for first round: Robinson v. Hubbard, Instone y. Mosley, Porter v. Patterson, McKenzie v. Easther. The men’s bogey match resulted in a ,tie between Instone and G. Pascoe, both 4 up.
