HOCKEY CHAPERON.

(To the Editor.) Sir,—l wish to reply to a letter appearing in your paper last evening from someone who is not satisfied with the selection of a chaperon for the ladies’ hockey team. Mrs McKane was the person selected by a “legitimate method’’ at the meeting of the West Coast Association held on Wednesday night last. As to her qualifications for that position, it is doubtful if any other person connected with the game has a stronger claim. There are few women nowadays with family duties to attend to who would be prepared to devote so much time for the good of the game as does Mrs McKane. Mrs McKane has been with the Mawhera Club for some seasons now. during which time the Mawheras have played against teams from Hokitika to Nelson, and has acted in the capacity of chaperon on almost every occasion with nothing but • good reports. and with the experience gained with the Mawhera girls on those visits she should well fill the position with the Coast reps. Be it said to her credit also that on every occasion Mrs McKane lias been <i playing nienibei. What about that for her enthusiasm. With reference to the “plums in the way of a trip mentioned by your correspondent, it is-quite clear “Dissatisfied” has done little for hockey otherwise she would be more conversant with, the circumstances of the teams. There are no plums to be picked from the ladies’ hockey here, as every ch(lb is like the Association itselt haul up” as far as finance goes, and every person travelling with that team is paying his or her share towards the expenses ot the trip. So perhaps "Dissatisfied” should wait . little longer until the plums are i ipe, be fore she takes a hand in helping the beehey game RA?'

(To the Editor.) Sir— In reply to “Disatisfied” re appointment of chaperon I iegiet there were not sufficient phuns to jo round to satisfy “Dissatisfied, and congratulate the lady a PP oin J the big plum rolled her way You etc ” VERY SATISFIED.
