RUSSIAN CONDEMNED. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association MOSCOW, July 19. A Soviet communique states: Piskunoff, who commanded « the White Guards’ death waggon in Siberia in 1919, and who committed mass executions and tortured prisoners, has been sentenced to death. AMERICAN FARM RETURNS. WASHINGTON, July 20. The Department of Agriculture announces that the gross income of farmers from crops during the year ended June 30, was 12,080 million dollars, which is a decrease of 5 per cent on the previous year, attributed to lower cotton prices, and smaller returns on feed, grains, apples and potatoes. The net income of farmers is estimated at 2440 millions, after deducting expenses, compared with 3082 millions in 1921. Production expenses increased only 2 per cent, while the net income decreased by about 20 per cent. 9548 millions of the gross income is computed as cash from sales, and 2531 millions as value of food and fuel consumed on the farms. SAMOAN DISPUTE. SAN FRANCISCO, July 20. The Government of Samoa, through Mr Nixon Westwood, its agent here, declares the statements by Mr Yore that the Samoans were revolting, are absurdly ridiculous and untrue. It is admitted that the Europeans are protesting against the discriminating liquor laws, and urging the natives to resist. The latter are satisfied and want the European agitators deported. The liquor administration is outside the New Zealand mandate. NAVAL CONFERENCE. LONDON, July 19. A full meeting of the Cabinet discussed matters related to the Geneva Naval Conference.
