The machine put thrdugh £ 10,533, compared with £17,872 on the first day of last year. Remaining results: — HAWKE’S BAY STEEPLECHASE, about 3 miles. —(1) Crown Coin (R. E. Thomson) 1, (3) Passin’ Through 2, (6) Garzon 3. Also started —(2) Fireblight, (5) San Forte, (4) Lupineel. Won by 100 yards. Lupineel and Fireblight fell. San Forte’s rider mistook the 'distance, and finished' with the second round, instead of the third. Time 7.12 2-5. WINTER HANDICAP, 9 furlongs—(l) Romantic (L. G. Morris) 1, (2) Merle 2, (3) Kilmezzo 3. Also ran — (5) Radiate, (4) Ramblin’ Kid and (6) Grey Lady. Won by' a length and a half. Time 2.4 3-5. HASTINGS HANDICAP, 5 furlongs. — (3) Coot (A. G. Dixon) 1, (5) Eloquent 2, (7) High Heather 3. Also started —(1) Inner Harbour, (4) Break o’ Day, (8) Arrow Boy, (9) Ayum Kara, (2) Abisogne and (6) Heather Blend. Won by half a length. Time 1.6 3-5. HERETAUNGA HANDICAP, 61 furlongs.— (2) Hathor (J. Barry) 1, (5) Popoff 2, (3) Kaiti 3. Also ran—(l) Hoariri, (4) Huikai, (6) Starboard Light, (5) Lipsol and (7) Riverna. Won by two lengths. Time 1.27 1-5.
