COMMITTEE’S ULTIMATUM. The monthly meeting of the Taylorville School Committee was held on June 7. It was resolved that the secretary write to the Education Board that if the Department makes no attempt to renovate the school by June 21, 1927, that the committee will close the school for the winter months from that date. , It was further resolved: “That the secretary write to the member for Westland and also for Buller about the dilapadated state of the Taylorville school building. The Department promised to remodel the building some three years ago, and has done nothing. The building is in a very bad way, the rain and wind is blowing in everywhere, and it is impossible for the children to do justice to their work under the present conditions. All the guttering around the building is falling down, the water pours in. the front door and half the children are suffering from colds through the damp rooms.” —Carried. It was resolved that the secretary write to Mrs Dand thanking her for her application as caretaker of Taylorville school, and that Mrs Chetwynd, the present caretaker had two months’ leave of absence and she had made arrangements for someone to take her place for that period. It was resolved that the secretary write Mi’ J. Sharp, secretary of the W.C.F.B. Association, thanking the Association for the ball which they so generously forwarded to the school. T. Morgan was appointed trustee for the Taylorville school funds. The head teacher’s report was received as satisfactory, the average attendance being 58.7.
