It is officially announced that the closing date for nominations in the State elections will be September 1, < and polling day September 24. Parliament will assemble on October 5. There is a possibility that September 17 may be substituted for Septembei 24, if the rolls are completed in time. BUTTER COMPETITION. SYDNEY, June 11. At the conference of the Co-opera-tive Dairy Factory Managers and Secretaries Association of New South Wales, an assortment of foreign butters, specially imported for enlightenment of delegates was inspected. Mr. Wigan,' Senior Federal Grader for New South Wales, adjudged a box of Australian butter, which was made in February and had been in cold store since then, the best, with 941 points New Zealand and Irish came second with 931, and Danish fourth with 92. It was suggested that a conference each year should hold a butter competition open to all States and New Zealand. WIRELESS COMMISSION. SYDNEY, June 11. At the Wireless Commission, evidence was given that the State Government proposed to erect one highpowered central station in or n ® ai Sydney, and six relay stations for broadcasting purposes. The scheme, in addition, will be an alternative means of communication in the event of dislocation.of the telegraph service. G. A. Taylor, representing the association for the development of wireless, giving evidence, said that he had received a cable from a Victorian experimenter, at present living in America, that the Australian beam service between England and Australia, was well received there, when sent either way round the world.
