NEW DISCOVERY

DISEASE AND DRUG INJECTIONS

A mystery man recently arrived in London from Frankfort, Germany, to put forward an amazing claim to the proper medical authorities. It is a claim which, if substantiated, will revolutionise medical science and save millions of lives.

The name of the man is Herr Gustave Rothe, and he states that, after twenty years research work as a chemist, he has evolved a unique method of administering quantities of disinfectant acids —carbolic, sulphuric, hydrochloric, etc. —far in excess of a fatal dose to human beings, so that they are entirely harmless to the system.

These doses of acid will, he dlaims cure tuberculosis, typhoid fever, smallpox, scarlet fever, malaria, sclerosis, pneumonia, syphilis, lupus, dysentery, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. Rother also says that his treatment is likely to be efficacious in cases of cancer and sleeping sickness. His method of administering unheard of quantities of virulent poisons is to concentrate them in small capillary containers in such a way that the raw acids do not affect the body while the full force of their disinfectant properties is released.

A prominent official at the Brompton Hospital for tuberculosis told the “Sunday Chronicle” that it has long been realised by doctors that the only stumbling block in theory to the cure of disease caused by malignant bacteria by means of acid has been that no preparation can be fbund to introduce acid in sufficient quantities into the human body harmlessly. These germs can be destroyed in a test tube with carbolic acid and other disinfectants, and science has searched in vain for the method that Mr. Rothe now says he has discovered. It is this fact that makes his claim so remarkable, and directly the “Sunday Chronicle” learned of it, it took immediate steps to get in touch with Mr. Rothe.

Mr Rothe made it abundantly clear at the outset that his object in going to England is not to commercialise his discovery. It is to invite the closest investigation of his claims and his treatment from medical men. To this end he is prepared to give free supplies of his preparation to doctors. A London physician who is already trying out Mr. Rothe’s , remedies declared that he is privately treating a well-known society woman, who for three and a-half years has been confined to the same floor suffering from rheumatoid arthritis. For three weeks his patient has been taking daily no fewer than 250 pills, containing acids which, if introduced in any other form, would have been fatal. The number of pills has now been reduced to 70 a day. The doctor is satisfied that the health of his patient shows signs of improvement, and it is possible that she will shortly be able to walk downstairs. He has also treated two patients suffering from colitis with another preparation of Dr Rothe’s. “It is too early as yet to make any definite report,” he said, “but one patient is very much better. The other has only .been given the treatment three days, and I am now waiting a further supply of the preparation. “I am not prepared at; the moment to make a definite pronouncement, but Mr Rothe’s discovery is an extremely interesting one.” The claims of Mr Rothe will be thoroughly investigated by medical men. They may be supported, or found to be fallacious.
