BEDROOM DRAMA

THIEF BEHIND A CURTAIN. Investigation of the mystery of the theft of a pearl necklace and a pearl ring valued at £-10.q00 from the residence of Mr. Mosenthal, Green Street, Park Lane,' W., leads to the belief that the robbery was the work of a man and a woman. It is now known that the man was actually standing behind a heavy blue and gold curtain in the bedroom when Mrs..Mosenthal entered and changed for dinner in the dressing-room adjoining. . Unable to find the electric switches in the wall, the thief struck two matches, which he dropped on the floor, and had just time to dodge behind the curtain when Mrs. Mosenthal entered and switched on the light. From his hiding-place, which was just by the dressing-table, he saw Mrs. Mosenthal’s movements and watched her take off the necklace and ring and place them in' the jewel case on the dressing-table. When Mrs. Mosenthal went into the dressing-rpom the thief softly opened a door of the dressing-table, secured the jewels, and left.
