The Executive Council authorised the flotation of the redemption loan of eleven millions sterling at 5?. per cent at £99, the negotiations for which were recently completed in London by Mr M’Kell.

The hides market is irregular. Heaviest declined by a halfpenny and medium by a farthing. Kips and lights are very firm.

Onions £3 5/ to £3 10/. MOTORMAN’S BANKRUPTCY. DUNEDIN, May 11. About fifty creditors this afternoon attended the meeting in the bankruptcy of William Lawlor Shiel, motor garage proprietor, Dunedin. The total debts amounted to £42,764 3/5, the assets to £21,891 3/7, and the deficiency to £20,872 19/10. The total amount of debts to creditors holding securities was given as £12,703 16/6, and to unsecured creditors £24,763 6/11. There were over a hundred and fifty unsecured creditors. Bankrupt stated that' among other circumstances which brought about financial difficulties were the loss of £BOO on a shipment of tyres, and the necessity to write off £5OOO on sec-ond-hand cars.
