BLACKBERRY PEST
INSECT PARASITES OBTAINED. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON, December 5. Doctor Tillyard sailed by the Corinthic, taking with him 250 parasites of earwigs, intended to destroy earwigs in New Zealand. The parasites are scarce in .the present year, necessitating Dr Tillyard searching throughout Europe. They cost a shilling each. He is also taking several kinds of insects with which it is Hoped to destroy blackberry and brambles. Before they are liberated they will be (tested to ascertain the effect on other plants. Sir Francis Beil and his daughter are also passengers by tlie Oorlnthlc.
