ADDINGTON MARKETS. (Special to “Star.”) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 1. The National Mortgage and Agency Co., Ltd., report on to-day s Addington sales; — Fat Cattle.—A yarding of SSO'head. compared with 557 a fortnight ago. A considerable portion of the yarding comprised cows. Bidding was slow and prices were down 10/. Best quality beef 34/6 to 37/6 per lOOlbs, heavy prime 31/ to 32s 6d, medium quality 29/ to 31/, best heifer 31/ to 36/6 best cow 30/ to 33/, Uiid inferior 25/ to 27/6. Store sheep comprised mostly ewes and lambs and wethers. The demand was keen and sales were made at 1/ per head dearer than a week ago. Good aged ewes and lambs 15/3 to 17/9, good shorn ew.es and lambs 12/3, aged dry half bred ewes 9/4, four, six and eight-tooth shorn wethers 22/ to 24/1, shorn two-tooth wethers 18/5 to 21/1, woolly threequarter bred e.we hoggets 33/6. Fat Sheep.—A very small yarding of eight and a half races, mostly shorn sheep being forward. The sale opened slightly better than at last week, but eased to late rates. Extra wethers shorn to 34/7, prime 27/6 to 31/3, medium 26/ to 27/3, light 22/ to 256, prime ewes 23/ to 26/, medium 20/ to 22/6, prime woolly wethers to 43/4, medium 33/ to 35/6, prime woolly ewes 28/6 to 32/1. Messrs Dalgety and Co., hfd., report: — ▼ Fat Sheep.—A smaller yarding and quality good. Chiefly shorn sheep were yarded. The sale opened on a par with last week’s, but improved as the market progressed, all classes advancing 1/ to 1/6 per head. Fat Lambs. —A much smaller yarding and a better sale. Fat Cattle.—A fairly large entry, principally cows and heifers, and a few drafts of heavy steers, but prime medium-weight steers were in shorter supply. The market generally showed a weakening tendency, especially for light quality, but prime cattle realised quite satisfactory prices, and were very little under last week’s rates.

Store Sheep.—A small entry, but no quotable change in values.

Choppers £4 to £7, light baconers £3 12/ to £4, heavy baconers £4 -10 to £5, extra heavy baconers to £5 8/, average price per lb 6Jd to 7|d, light porkers 46/ to 54/, heavy porkers 60/ to 69/, average price per lb 8d to 9d. • Store Pigs.—There was another large entry of store pigs. From the start prices were easier, showing a decline of about 5/ a head on late rates. Weaners 15/ to 20/, better sorts to 26/, small stores 28/ to 33/, medium stores 35/ to 40/, large stores to 52/, sows £3 15/ to £4. CHCH. WOOL SALES. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 1. The first wool sale of the Christchurch season was held to-day with a full bench of buyers, representing Bradford, American, and Continental houses, also local mills and scourers. There was a good selection of fine quality wools, 'fairly heavy in condiion, but sound and well grown a fair porportion carrying dust, owing to the dry winter. The following was the range of prices:— Merino, 64/70 60/64, super 19d o 20d. average 16Ad to 18Ad, inferior 131 d to 15d. Corriedale: Extra super 21Jd, super ISd to 20d, average lOd to 17. id, inferior 13d to 15d. SYDNEY SERIES. SYDNEY, December 1. The eight scries of wool sales here concluded to-day. The next series commences on December 13. Values to-day were unclianged for all wools showing quality with good general competition. Burry and broad wools were still irregular and difficult to sell. Greasy merino sold to 30d. LONDON COMPETITION. LONDON, November 30. At the wool sales, there was an average selection, and there was animated competition for all classes. Prices were fully firm. ‘New Zealand, Belmont clip sold at 15Ad to 143 d. BUTTER AND CHEESE. The National Mortgage and Agency Company have received the following cablegram from their London Principals, Messrs A. J. Mills and Co. — Butter.—lmproved demand; control prices now 156/, 158/. Stored butter practically cleared 150/, 152/. Cheese. —Good demand; 87/, firsts 86. MINING. Good reports come from Moonlight, Limifed, the property in which Mr. J. Rasmussen discovered a highly payable lode, in the early part of this year. The average of a number of tests made recently give the value of the reef at from £lO to £l5 per ton. Should the tests be b orne out wh ® n the production of gold commences in earnest, the mine will reproduce the “Moonlight form” of the old mining days.
