FREEZING DISPUTE
MEAT COMPANY’S LOSS (Pct Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. . “The accounts show that the net result of the. year’s operations is a loss of 113,320/16/4, which, in view of the serious condition of trade‘generally, inut’t be considered satisfactory.” The above sentence is taken from the thirty-seventh annual report and statement of accounts of the Wellington Meat Export Company, covering the year ended 30th September, 1926. As recent telegrams from the South island have shown, the making of losses on the year is not uncommon among meat freezing companies. VOLUNTEERS SUCCEED MASTERTON, Dec. 1. Volunteers working at Waingawa freezing works'" have, according to the management, shown a wonderful improvement during the week, which they have been working, and a fair number of them are already doing round baout the tally of eight head per hour, which entitles them to be classed as competent slaughtermen. The number of sheep and lambs killed was 1030, and the work in every Department is proceeding satisfactorily. Without any addition to the numbers working or any further improvement there will be no difficulty in hancjlirig all the fat stock likely to be offering this side of the holidays. •... J
