The prisoner Hawthorne, who on September 27, was committed for trial after the Coroner’s inquest, at which a verdict was returned , that he murdered Mrs Cox and Mrs Galetta, has been declared insane, and ordered to be detained in a criminal lunatic asylum , until he is mentally fit to jstarid his trial. A meeting of representatives of industrial bodies,- subscribing to the funds of the Newcastle Hospital, discussed the. appointment’ of Mr Coyle (Wellington) as secretary..- The meeting condeinned the President for malting the . appointment, and asked hiiji to resign. The meeting- also resolved to ask the Government to make aii immediate inquiry into ; the affairs ot the hospital, and that the appointment of Mr. Coyle be cancelled. ,
