CHRISTMAS SHOPPING

Three weeks and three days and Christmas will be with us again, and all those experienced persons who realise that Christmas shopping has risen from a business until it has become a fine art are already making their purchases. Unsatisfactory purchases are legion at Christmas time, and the sole reason for this is the fact that such a large number of persons leave their shopping until Christmas Eve. Days are needed to do it satisfactorily and if one tries to cram the business into one afternoon round a last minute counter the result will be disastrous. Get youi s done immediately. You will satisfy yourself: you will give the stores a chance to give you proper attention, and the result will be far better for the intended recipient of the present. “Shop early” is the slogan that will suit the clever housewife. Those little extra luxuries that go such a long way towards making Christmas such a success, without which, in fact it would be a make-believe, all have to be thought of. The tastes of young and old have to be studied and provided for. A million and one things, which have been lying dormant all the year, demand attention a few days before the big event, making all concerned fly hither and thither in an aimless rush that generally gets them nowhere. Avoid the last minute bargain hunter. You will run against him if you leave your shopping late, and you will feel that there is no worse ordeal than Christmas time, when in reality it should be a pleasure to roam the comparatively secluded shops -and take your time to pick the presents you wish to give your friends. Choosing suitable gifts is a matter demanding thought as well as time. Unless the presents please, they will have failed in the purpose, so you cannot be too careful. A man knows what a man wants —go to him if you are in trouble in this respect; a woman knows what will charm a woman—go to her if this is your p„. plexity. Think now—plan out a campaign—and don’t leave it any longer.
