The Gear meat works at Petone opened the season to-day, fourteen butchers working. The head office states that the number is ample for the quantity of stock, at present available. AUCKLAND MARKS TIME. AUCKLAND, November 30. Local freezing companies did not start work to-day, as arranged, pending the result of i a conference at AVellington to-morrow. A big meeting of unionists, last night, decided to adhere to the resolution not to start killing, unless advised to do so by the Freezing AVorkers’ Federation. AVATERSIDERS’ ATTITUDE. NAPIER, November 29. A call was made late this afternoon for labour to load the frozen meat killed by non-unionists on to the Port Hobart, which is completing her loading at this port. There was no response to the call. This might have been due to a shortage of labour, owing to the number of vessels in port. However, a real test of the attitude of the watersiders will come on Wednesday morning, when a further call will be made.
