Ruapapa and Spoony were the pace makers, and they raced in close terms into the Straight. Ruapapa then drew away, and won by three lengths. Spoony was a neck in front of Boomerclay,, with Masctr Doon well up fourth. Time 2.38. Tresham was last. Cambria Handicap.—s Lorna Doon (Davies) 1: 4 Exalted 2; 1 Titree 3. At the opening day of the Taka puna Jockey Chib’s Spring Meeting heavy rain was experienced before the start of the first race, and the course was very heavy. There was a, iair attendance. For the opening event, the Melrose Maiden Stakes, the scratching of Cy nehi and King Emerald still left a field of 21. The bracketed Tekawana and Town Bird was made a better favourite than Royal Picture., the best backed of the others being Kyagzone and Bahama. When the field settled down Bimmer was showing the way a.ong the back to Town Bird, Royal Picture, Arch Queen, Sir Gilbert and Kyngaone. Town Bird had charge crossing the top from Dimmer, Royal Picture and Cantab. Town Bird landed into the straight in front of Cantab, .uoyal Picture, Arch Queen, Bahama and Dimmer, and in the run home Arch Queen prevailed by a length and a half from Town Bird, who was two lengths in front of Cantab. Bahama was fourth. in the Tiri Highweight Handicap, Pentagram and Lord Bruce were withdrawn. Royal Form was the favourite of a field of nine, carrying £l2O more than Pouri and Wedding March, and Black Cruiser also had friends. As they raced along the back, Royal Form and Fair Abbey were on terms with Black Cruiser, am, then at intervals came Sea Comet Kamehameha, Hangawera and Fair Abbey, with Pouri as the handiest of the others. Black Cruiser won by half a length from Pouri, who finished fast and was a neck in front of Royal Form. Sea Comet was fourth. R. Nixon, the rider of Daddy’s Girl, was knocked about the head and rendered unconscious. The scratching pen was pretty freely used in the Borough Handicap, for which ten eventually faced the starter, and Archioald was £2OO better backed then Le Choucas, the next in demand being Ring the Bell and Thursby. Ee Choucas and Archibald went out to make., the running from Namutere, New Moon, Ring the Bel’ and Aren Amie. Crossing the top the order was Le Choucas, Archibald, Namutere, New Moon, Ring the Bell, Thursby, Muscari and Uralla. Archibald was first to turn for home from Namutere, New Moon and Ring the Bell. New Moon came through in the concluding stages, to beat Namutere by two lengths, with Archibald a length away in third place. Ring the Bell was fourth. The winner raced in the interests of Geo. Gillett, a member of the 1905 All Blacks. Nippy was the only withdrawal from the Allk.cn Cup, for which raceTresham was over £5OO better supported than master Doon, while Desert Glow and Town Bank followed 'in order of favouritism. As they raced along the back, Ruapapa was pilot, followed by Spoony, Desert Glow', Tresham, Princess Ronnie, Lord Star, Master Doon, Town Bank, with Boomerday and Transformer last. Ruapapa and Spoony still held the leading positions as they turned for home, in front of Desert Glow and Booiherday, and Ruapapa went on to win easily by three lengths from Spoony, who was half a length in front of Boomerday, with Master Doon close up fourth. Then came Transformer, Desert Glow Towm Bank, Princess Ronnie, Lord Star and Tresham. Ti Tree was nearly twice as good a favourite as Auriculus, with, Carinthia next in request, for the Cambria Handicap, for which four scratchings left half a dozen runners. Carinthia was the first to show out from Exalted, Lorna Doon, and Arihana, but crossing the top Exalted and Lorna Doon were together followed by Arihana, Ti Tree, Auriculus and Corinthia. Lorna Doon was the first to turn for home from Exalted, Arihana and Ti 'free, and went on to win by three and a half lengths. In the Ponui Handicap, backers had much the same fate as in the previous race, the favourite, Quondong, being sixth, while the next three took the stakes. Along the back Bracken Abbey was attended by Maveelish, Blue Sky, Air Queen and Bizarro. Bracken Abbey was still in charge when they reached the top, but he then retired and Maveelish ran to thq front from Bracken Abbey, Wenday and Quondong. Maveelish was first to turn for home, just in front of Goldeu Krist and Wenday, with Blue Sky and Quondong next. In a good nish Wenday won by three-quarters of a length from Golden Krist, who beat Maveelish by half a length. Blue Sky was fourth. In the Cheltenham Handicap, Hoariri was £l2O better fancied than Nancy Lee, with a keen demand also for Dave and Archeen. The lastnamed was the quickest to begin, but along the back was headed by Pavo. By the time the top was reached, Archeen had taken charge again and led into the straight from Dave, York Abbey and King Merv. Archeen went on to win by half a length from Dave, with King Merv two and a-half lengths away third; then came Auramavis, York Abbey and Nancy Lee. FORBURY TROTS. DUNEDIN, Nov. 27. The second day of the Forbury Park Spring Meting was held to-day in wintry weather, and on a heavy track, again making for slow times. The tote handled £26,900J for the day, compared with £37,411i for the second day last year, making a total for the meeting of £45,666, compared with £61,7831 last year.
