MAORIS DEFEAT LEICESTER KEENLY FOUGHT GAME.(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association!. (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, November 27. The Maori Rugby team beat Leicester‘by ±5 points to 13. The attendance was 18,000. The Maori team was as follows :jPotaka, Phillips,, Pelham, Falwasser, Kingi Love, Wineera, Bell, Olsen, Dennis, Wilson, Rika, Robinson, Manihera, S. Gemmell. Leicester first pressed, and hemmed the Maoris for several minutes in their own territory. The Maoris were penalised for offside play, and Prentice kicked a goal. Leicester 3, Maoris 0. Pelham seemed certain to score after a powerful run, but he was grassed near the line. The Maoris were given a penalty kick, from which they gained nothing. Leicester’s fast wing-three-quarter, Farndon, got tne ball near half way, and after swerving cleverly, he crossed under the posts, Prentice easily converting. Leicester 8, Maoris 0. Before the interval, Falwasser scored an unconverted try for the Maoris. The second half was splendidly con.ested. The pace increased with the spectators’ excitement. New Zealand led nine minutes after the resumption. Desmond scored a try and Brown also scored. Then Desmond again scored a try. All the tries were; the result of remarkable speed and delightful work. Mouat tailed to convert the tries. New Zealand 11; Swinton 7.

Swinton then attacked hotly, and Morris kicked a penalty goal. A thrilling run by Davidson and Brown end ed in the latter scoring a spectacular try from his own half. Swinton drew the scores level when Hallwell scored a try, which Morris converted. •There was feverish excitement in the last minute. when Pearson dropped a goal, giving Swinton the victory.
